Black Coffee
Restaurant Build-Out

Creating an inviting storefront as well as an atmosphere of comfort and warmth within Black Coffee's "industrial farmhouse" space was the task at hand. Custom millwork and an expert touch brought sole and sweetness to this "vibrant cafe in the DC Palisades."

The Challenge
01

We worked with architect Hudson Black to ensure their vision was precisely reflected in each piece.

Black Coffee's installation had to occur around shifting schedules, HVAC/AC installation, staff trainings, kitchen installation and health & facility inspections.

The project essentially had two clients: Black Coffee as well as the talented team of Architects they hired to design the environment. They needed a custom fabrication team that would expertly bring their plans to life.

The Solution
02

Hatch worked with architect Hudson Black to ensure their vision was precisely reflected in each piece.

Our custom fabrication and millwork capabilities are on full display in this Industrial Farmhouse-style cafe. Interior & exterior components include signage, custom banquette seating, table-tops and communal tables, beam lighting & light assemblies, drink ledge, cabinetry, islands, wood walls, and door planking.

Between different inspections, staff training, and kitchen equipment deliveries, we had to remain flexible with our installation schedule. But with our experience in Program Management and account management, we made it work - ensuring that the interior build-out wouldn't interfere with the other aspects of prepping the cafe for its grand opening.

The Results

  • The restaurant’s trainings, inspection and opening were not in any way held up by the build-out of the exterior or furnishing of the dining room.

  • Hatch delivered a beautiful and soundly fabricated interior and storefront that continues to be enjoyed by Black Coffee’s patrons.
